I am a junior at Barnard College studying Political Science and Human Rights planning on pursuing law school in the future. I am passionate about international human rights law, with a focus on immigration, education, and women's rights. I am particularly interested in exploring the enforcement mechanisms that uphold these rights within the international legal system. In my free time, I love to bake, travel, and walk around NYC!

Afa Nuriyeva - Journal Director
Afa Nuriyeva is a sophomore at Columbia, double-majoring in Economics and Political Science, with a focus on corporate law and foreign affairs. She has served as a Co-Founder for a legal think-tank and received Oxford University’s Legal Distinction Award. Her interests lie in gaining valuable insights into the intricacies of contract law and its implications in the international political sphere. In her free time, she enjoys following Formula 1, playing tennis, and learning languages!

Sreya Gupta - Deputy Journal Director + Western Europe Representative
I’m Sreya, a sophomore at CC studying Economics. I’m especially interested in international relations, policy, and research. I enjoy writing and reading poetry, playing guitar, and learning new languages; I’m focusing on Mandarin at the moment! Outside of that, I love traveling, meeting new people and trying out as many different foods as possible.

Lora Tseylin - Vice President
Lora Tseytlin studies political science with a real minor in economics and a fake minor in comparative literature (a real one doesn't exist at Barnard). She is originally from Seattle, Washington, and has experience in war crimes research and business intelligence. She has worked with refugees on two different continents and speaks Ukrainian and Russian.

Evalina Sain - Climate Challenges
Hi! I’m Evalina Sain, and I am a first-year, representing the Climate Challenges region. I’m deeply interested in how climate and policy intersect both on the global policy stage and within everyday industries like fashion, entrepreneurship, and artificial intelligence. I enjoy thrifting, visiting museums, going to concerts, and trying different cafés. Through CAFA, I look forward to exploring how international relations and diplomacy can drive meaningful climate progress.

Anais Clermont - Latin America
I’m a Franco-Portuguese student fluent in six languages and a GS junior in the Dual BA between SciencesPo and Columbia. After studying Political Science and International Relations in France, I now focus on Sustainable Development and Human Rights at Columbia. Passionate about geopolitics, my favorite program is Arte’s Le Dessous des Cartes. I’ve worked with UNICEF for over six years and advocate for ocean protection. I love sailing and photography.

Arthur Hoefliger - Middle East North Africa (MENA)
Arthur Hoefliger is a senior at Columbia dual majoring in Economics and Political Science. He is a Pritzker-Pucker Congressional Policy Fellow and serves as Chair of the fellowship. Arthur served multiple roles at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), supporting CFR’s development and Studies departments. Prior to his time at the Council, Arthur served in legal and Congressional consulting positions at organizations including Giffords Law Center for Gun Violence Prevention and Career Girls.

My name is Fiona, and I am a sophomore at Columbia College! I plan on majoring in political science and philosophy. I am particularly interested in Foucault's work and in analyzing power structures throughout policy. In my free time, I like to read, dance, draw, and hang out with my friends.

Graysen Kirk - Peace & Conflict
As a Human Rights major, my interests lie primarily in international humanitarianism, carceral studies, and the war on terror, often focusing on how gender, socioeconomics, and race shape global politics. This semester, I am studying international relations and multilateral diplomacy in Geneva, Switzerland, where I have had the chance to meet leading experts in the human rights field. In my free time, I love taking dance classes at a studio in the city, trying out new food spots, or working on an oil painting. A fun fact about me is that I love a good vampire romance series; Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals—you name it!

Aparna Parthasarathy - Peace and Security
I am a political science and human rights major at Barnard who is focused on studying international relations and law. Outside of CAFA I am involved in Columbia's Model UN Travel Team, Continents and New York Small Claims Advisory service. I am interested in learning more about international issues concerning human rights, women's rights and global conflict. Outside of school and clubs I love to explore new neighbourhoods, cafes and bookstores and go shopping downtown with friends.

My name is Jiwoo (Jiu) Yum, and I'm a sophomore at Barnard College studying Political Science and Human Rights. I'll be serving as the East Asia-Pacific representative this year. In particular, I'm interested in seeing how decisions made in the political sphere impact our daily lives, including intersections with the private sector or even media. I’m Stephen, a first-year in Columbia College planning to major in Political Science with subfields in International Relations and American Politics. I’m passionate about law, national security, and foreign policy, and love discussing everything from the Supreme Court to resource competition.
